I'm planning to start my tranny swap here pretty quick: A340H ---> W56

The only part I'm having a tough time finding is a flywheel, hence the question: Can I use the flywheel I'm currently using on a 5-spd tranny? I'd get it resurfaced of course, but I'm not sure about the interface with the clutch disc.

 

auto's use a flexplate, which will NOT work with a manual

 

most certainly not! autos don't even have a flywheel, they have what is called a flex plate which is little more than an attachment point for the torque converter, and a ring gear for the starter.

also, i see your sig says you have a V6. you do know that a W56 tranny will be of no use to you, right? the only ones that will bolt up are the R150F, and the R151F turbo tranny, with a R150 bellhousing.

 

Yeah, I shoudl probably update the sig. It's actually a swap in my 86 Turbo Pickup.

I guess I'll keep looking, oh well.
