so i finally found an ARB bumper online used. the only thing is, its for a '94. does anyone know if it will fit my '88 pickup without major modifications?

 

pretty sure you'd have to make new mounts for it..but im not 100% sure..lol

i believe the frame is wider on the 3rd gen trucks..so yea..probably wont work..

but if its cheap enough..BUY IT..and have a shop make new mounts(beefy ones for sure) and then bolt it on!

 

does anyone have a pic of the mounts for either the 2nd or 3rd gen trucks? so i can get an idea of how hard it will be to fab?

 

The frame will be the same width as yours. Can you get some pics of the brackets on the bumper? If not, you should just buy it if it's a good deal. It shouldn't take much to make it work, and more than likely it will just bolt on to yours. Some bumpers utilize the front body mount brackets on the third gen trucks, which yours doesn't have. Other than that they usually mount to the front cross member, and you have the same holes as the third gen on the cross member.
