Question Anyone use an Autometer EGT Gauge??

Think I'm going to put an EGT gauge in the 80 and I'd like to stick with Autometer for uniformity. I'm curious if the thermocouple depth is adjustable? I've done some googling, but I can't get a definitive answer. It's going to probably go post turbo in 3" pipe and I want to make sure the sucker is dead center.

I know that some of the other brands out there give you 1/8" or so of adjustment...

Hmm, that sounds like its just for A/F ratio. Is it a dual purpose model that can also do EGT?

according tot he Autometer catalog (have the print version in my briefcase as Im doing a dash rework project)...

EGT Thermocoupls come in various "flavors" - buit the probe is 3/16" diameter probe and uses a compression fitting to a either a band camp or a 1/8NPT plug...

so yes - the height is adjustable via the compression fitting...

As far as wideband EGO... autometer makes one of those too....example #3378

There's a FAQ on the autometer site as to the differences between a wideband EGO and an OEM o2 sensor...

wideband EGO is NOT an EGT per se but in some sense it will tell similar information.

If you were using the EGT to tell if you were running rich/lean - get the wideband EGO instead - its more accurate.

If you were running the EGT to tell is the pipes were too hot for the turbo etc.. then run the EGT
