big t, Canada recently changed the law from 15 to 25 last year. so now you can only buy a dieselt toyota that is already in canada, no more importing. but you can still get them in Belize, got myself a HZJ81V.

The prick made me drive to Sarnia before he would sell it to me ( you know who you are ) But I appreciate him wanting me to go over it with a fine toothcomb before commiting the funds to the sale...

IIRC there were two Hilux Surf diesels. Were they both junk? Everyone i talk to who owns one says avoid the 2LT. How is the other motor?

I think if I went diesel, I'd go Land Cruiser from what I've heard.

Yeah, but you can buy much newer JDM diesel front clips and do your own conversion.

they havent changed the law yet .. but they might... i know people who sitll bring them in..

I LOVE MY 2lte.. i would prefer the 3.0 but its a great truck.. had it for a year and a half only oil changes and maintenance.. 130 000kms now..ill never sell it.. if the head cracks ill put the 3.0 in it... it still in amazing almost show rooms shape and i wont offroad it.. if i can finish my suzuki on yota axles b4 winter i wont drive this in the winters and i always krown oil spray it..

you can get nice land cruisers that are diesel too in canada i see tons on kijiji.some of them have the 3 b gear driven million mile motor..but rust is a real issue and a main reason i went jdm i was looking at a 96-02 4runner that all had 200 000kms and been through 10 years of winter almost...the 2lte almost broke me on the deal but the last own assured me had the truck 2 years with no problems it had th replacment 3l head in japan and he was good guy that was glad it was going to yota freak.

hehe, gotta be clear, bro.

The 1KZ-TE appears to be the easiest to find in the JDM market.

The 1KD-FTV looks like a real charmer, provided you get all of the electrical that goes with it. On the other note, it's insanely difficult to find.

'87 Toyota 2lt Xtra Cab 4x4. Great truck, imported from Canada. Hard to find these things though and getting parts is also tough.

I just bought and am in the process of importing a '96 Toyota Hilux Surf SSR-G, so they definitely haven't changed the laws in Canada yet. It will arrive sometime in February, can't wait!

i have a 2.4td 2lte hilux surf ssrx its been indestrucable and very reliable to say the least the only prob with the 2.4 is its a bit sluggish but the 3.otd is the predominatly the one people go for, just purely for the extra power. the thing with the diesels are they are 98% all automatics so if your going to do a swap then make sure you check which trans it takes. if you need any help on the diesel thing giz a shout, if you guys have diesels over there and are struggling for parts also giz a shout dont see a problem getting them over here cheaper and sending them over to you guys. save ya all a small fortune. also if you need any advice or tech advice on the diesels again giz a shout.
