AMSOIL Severe Gear SAE 75W-90 for everything?
1994 22RE Pickup 4x4 Manual
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to change the fluids in my transmission, transfer case and front and rear differentials. I was looking around for what oils to get according to my owners manual and what people recommend on this site. Seems like Royal Purple, Redline and AMSOIL are the most frequently recommended.
I ended up calling AMSOIL and the tech said I can use the Severe Gear 75w-90 in all four spots. This helps me because I can get it off eBay and it’s cheaper the more I get. Anyone see anything wrong with this? Like using hypoid lube in my transmission or anything? I trust the AMSOIL tech but really want to get the final word from you guys.
Thanks!

Ok so I did even more digging and found a thread that said it’s really best to use GL4 in the transmission to prevent hard shifting in the cold.
I ended up buying Redline MT90 for tranny and transaxle and AMSOIL Synthetic 80w-90 for front and rear differentials.
