Alternator brushes

After wheeling in thick mud and years of driving my alternator decided to stop charging my new battery, so I pulled the alt. and have cleaned it out with degreaser and soaked it in silicone spray I have ordered some new brushes to replace the old ones.. My rig is a 22R 1989 beast with SAS... None of the junkyards around here sold this type of alt.. They only had the ones with the internal fans.

The alternator is the type with the external fan like this:

I can't find any guides on the net how to remove these brushes and replace them with these type:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. I desperately need my rig back on the road!

i have found over the years while it is all well and good to know how to rebuild alternators and starters till you buy the parts you need and pull the parts out and put them back in.

Labor time wise it is far cheaper to just get a rebuilt unit . Or go with who ever sells lifetime warranty.

Ok this is just a quick fix until I get on top of my mortgage.. After some tinkering I have figure out to remove the old brushes I had to drill them out of the plug and retain the springs for when the new brushes get soldered in tommorow.

I will post a guide with pics incase there are any other people with this style of alternator.
