Looking down, the hill does look very steep. It's just out in the open? There's no way that you can roll it down the hill and towards/into some trees/behind something?

-20F with no windows is just the start of his problems...that missing radio and the busted windows are nothing! I knew someone that drove their Accord off a dirt road and onto a trail. Got stuck....high-centered. They had to walk out of there and by the next day..it wasn't stripped, it wasn't peppered with buckshot, it was just plain gone!


I wish your friend luck! A car/truck breaks down and you MUST leave it without being able to take anything.... if you can, roll it into some trees and cover it with pine boughs/branches/mud/snow/whatever avaliable as camouflage so that it doesn't stick out like that there Pathfinder.

I wouldn't leave it. I would sit in it with my pistol till someone got me out. Around here I can call a tow truck and they'll get you out. Normally I would just call a friend or my dad and the old jeep wagoneer. If it came down to it I could call my station and have them send out the F-450 brush truck with a winch.

i would hide in the woods with my AR, G19, and Rem 870 camp there and wait for some bastard to ˟˟˟ with my truck......

also check with the insurance company...... vandalism is usually covered, just be carefull where you say the rig was, some insurance companies might say its not covered since its not on a public road or on your property

That's why I'm glad to be affiliated with yotatech and TTORA. Between all the spares and tools each of us carries and the number of vehicles, we can at least get it to the road, and not leave it in the wilderness!

That really sucks. Luckily the wrecker companies around here have no problem going off-road to get you. They guarantee to get you out wherever you are but there is no talk of what the bill will end up being when you get back into that warm office with Bubba.

Never wheel alone, or have the equipment, parts and knowhow to fix it or get yourself out. All the more reason to carry a satellite phone for emergencies now a days.

As for me, if I really had no other choice I would lock anything that was valuable and I couldnt carry in my truck box. Then I would leave a nice note that says If I find someone messing with my truck I hope they can outrun bullets..

Then grab my gear bag (this isnt your toolbag or supplies, this has everything you need for 3 days!) and go hike down and find help.

Course, it pays to know people with bigger trucks. My friend has a bronco, my other friend has a wagoneer and the local towing guy has a old dodge 250 diesel.

There is a website called 4x4support.com that networks wheelers all over the USA (and maybe Canada) to help avoid these situations.

That is the case iwth me and a friend, He has a 95' jeep that I have always had to go get for him with the Runner...

I am that guy to, But when I am on a trail There are usually 2 other guys with rigs with me...

But you couldn't throw the t-case into 4Lo and pull him up and out to a place were he could be towed?

If ever I got stuck and no one could get me out, I would call someone to bring me extra gas (granted if the Runner is still on all 4s and running) and sonme food, blankets, and a gun and sleep in the truck, or I would have some one bring me a kerosene heater, a tent, plenty of blankets and food and a gun and sleep by it...

If You Do leave it take all teh registration stuff and other valuables, heck if you know how to get the stereo out, by all means take that too...
Roll down the windows so they can't break it...

I’ve had people call me in the middle of the night before saying they where stuck. People shouldn’t wheel alone or at least carry survival supplies and a shovel. I live in a small college town and allot of people know me and I seem to be the person everyone calls to pull them out. I might as well put recovery vehicle on my door panels and start charging more than gas money.

If they are friends of mine all I ask is for gas money I dont mind being woken up. If I dont know them then I say call me in the morning unless they make it worth my while.

Usually my response is "Give me an hoour, 30 more min of sleep, 5 to get dressed, and 20 to think of how much I want from you..."

A note that says "I'm coming right back with some help. If anything is damaged, I will hunt you down." would work well also.

Left a company 97 ford f150 sunk to the doors (bad judgement-my fault) on a cut line in Ontario-someone used it for target practice that night. If someone wants to damage, steal or other wise ruin someones day for fun, theres not much you could do about it other than sitting on the hood with a shotgun.

I've got a buddy with Moggie that should be back on the road this spring, amazing what 80hp of benz and all the gearing in the world will pull out.

i joined... i've know about that site for a while, but i never joined since my truck was at the time stock... now that its been "altered" i feel more helpful.
