That should be why you get the 5-speed.

Really love my 5 speed. My gripe is it's getting harder to get a truck with manual. I don't think you can get the new Tacoma with 4 doors, V6, 4x4 with anything but an auto. That will keep me from buying one.

I think the new Tacoma comes with option for a manual transmission (though when I tried to build one on the toyota website I saw no 4x4!)

Last time I looked you could only get the 5 speed 4x4 with a 4 cylinder and not a V6. I just went to the Toyota website and it looks like they changed it for 2005. However now I'm ticked because I keyed in my zip (91505) and they don't even have a 4x4 available! BUT... If I key my old Texas zip (77062) there's plenty to choose from! I may have to go back home at Christmas to get a new truck!

A340H auto here, didn't want an auto but wife can't drive a manual. The way my wife drives, I could see the real possiblity of her popping the clutch at a street light and rear end someone.

the only tacomas that weren't available with a manual transmission were the prerunners and double cabs. however, i think both have the option now. 4cyl or V6, they were both always available with a 5 speed

i just wish toyota would make a 5 speed available on the tundra with the V8...

I'm picking up an Automatic tonight. Was interested in the stick, but found a great deal on the Auto.

I guess I can repost now that I've bought a '99 SR5 Highlander Edition 4Runner with a 5 speed manual. Toy corporate can just keep on waiting to get me to buy a new 4Runner until they make a turbo-intercooled diesel with a 5 speed.
