Yes and generally hold up a bit better off roading since you have a clutch that'll burn up hopefully before breaking something.

5 Speed.......when you're in the middle of nowhere with a dead battery you can pop the clutch and get it started. Yeah, I know it's bad for the cat-converter, but sometimes it's better than that alternative. A couple of times, if I hadn't been able to do that, I'd have been in for a long walk.

5 speed in both of my vehicles... I hate letting some slushbox decide what gear is the best for me. Automatics are GHEY.

Auto :(

2.7 Taco w/ automatic. The slush box does well, I have abused it thouroughly with 31" tires. I'm sure the larger the tire the worse a slush box will be. I am currently looking to swap it out for a 5speed. I haven't researched what is available for that conversion if at all. I'm gearing soon, and adding a front locker...I hope the tranny can handle offroad and a bit of towing.....
peace-

I just like having something to do while driving so I like the manual. Also when you have a wimpy little 4banger like I do, it's kind of a requirement for big hills.

5 speed for me. I cant stand autos. I drove one the other day floored it and it took like 2 seconds to figure out what gear to use then it started to go. I like that postive feel with a manual tranny. The gas pedal is suppost to operate engine speed, not gear selection.

5speed all the way, its the only reason i baught the vehicle. automatics are sooo boring and i'm guessing with the 3.0 they are a nightmare

My buddy had an 02 Taco with the 3.4 and an auto. Driving it convinced me to find a 5 speed.

The WS6 is an auto though, but that is the wifes fault (even though she drives stick just fine).

I must say though that the Taco has the notchiest tranny I have ever driving, and one of the most PITA clutches. But I would still take it over an auto.

But auto's OWN for rock crawling or any other slow speed wheeling.

5 speed! The only way to go. You have more control of the vehicle, I think... That, and if you have to replace the tranny... it's a little less expensive!
