4x4 conversion?

So i had my neighbor come by today and he asked me if i was going to lower my truck i laught and said no im lifting it. he then asked is it 4wd? i was like NO and laughed again he said why not make it a sas 4x4? i was like well its spendy and alot of work. He then told me its not that expensive really, you buy the t case, the tranny, the crossmember, drivlines and axles and then he offered to help me do it. SO i was wondering if anyone else has done a 4x4 conversion on a 2wd truck. he has lots of experience in doing SOLID AXLE SWAPS said hes done bout 30 of them now. His trucks even a solid axle swap, its a 87 4runner that was ifs. SO with his help and my knowledege im sure i could do it but im wondering how much youd think itd cost allll together, and if i should do it or get a 4x4?

you might be able to use the 2wd tranny if you mount a devorced x-case.
