35x12.50 on 15x8 or 15x10?
For those of you running 35x12.50's on a 8" or 10" rim, what was your reason for the rim width you chose?
I've searched and read the about the differance in tire wear (tires on 8" tend to wear quicker in the middle as opposed to a 10" wearing more even), the look of the tire (some say the 12.50 on 8" look bubbled or ballooned) and some have mentioned mpg which I don't see being that much different to really raise an eyebrow.
I've read about lowering the tire pressures on both, 8" will hold the bead a bit better than a 10" at lower pressure, but then again, people like to run the 10" for the wider footprint and floatation in certain terrains (sand, snow).
So I ask, those of you running an 8", why did you choose a 8"? Did you choose 8" so it doesn't stick out as far past the fenders, do you plan on beadlocking the rim and a 10" would be too wide after beadlocking for a 12.50, the 12.50 on the 8" protects the wheel better from trail damage or was there another reason?
Guys running 10", wider stance look, more stability with the taller tires or something else?
I'm curious to know why, as 35's will be my next choice and I'll probably be purchasing new wheels as well, either black steelies in either width or possibly a 15x8 Toyota wheel (depending on backspacing) and powder coating them or having them painted black.

I have mine on 10" rims(3.5" backspacing), my full-size spare's on an 8".
10" is the recommended size for 12.5-14.5 wide tires IIRC. 10.5's say they're supposed to be on 8". But, you can get away with 12.5's on 8"ers.
I like them for all the reasons you listed. They just seem like the logical choice for running 12.5-14.5 wide tires with floatation/wider footprint being the main concern off-road(deep mud and/or snow mostly), and wider more stable stance and even tire wear the main concerns on-road. I do like the way they look on 10"ers better than on 8"ers too, that's just personal preference.

they do make dot (if you are worried about it) bead locks. if you can afford them run those cause you have the best of both worlds. if you need to you can run on a flat and you won't break the bead. the only down side is you have to check the torque on the bolts atleast once a month

If I run beadlocks, I'm planning on either just doing the DIY beadlocks and have someone do the welding or I'll run the Stauns internal beadlocks. But as of right now, beadlocks are really not in the picture.

I chose 8'' because of what I had available for the price. I really like them. I run 12 psi in the tires and have yet to throw a bead. I have thought about going with 10's but I think I will just keep my wheels, even when I upgrade to 35 or 37's.

my 35x12.5s are on a 15x8 and my 37x12.5s are on a 15x10 personally i like the wider stance of the 10s but dont like how exsposed the are, i plan on getting rid of the 10s for some 2in bs 15x8 with a DIY beadlock
