327 v8?
Does anybody have a 327 v8 in a 4runner or pickup? if you do could you shed some light on if this is a good engine or should i just do a 350? I would like to know the expected gas milage also with 38.5 boggers and 529 gears.

I'm in the process of putting in a 350. I got one motor mount fabbed up, time to duplicate it for the other side
Id say if your asking about gas mileage, a 350 swap probably isnt the way to go! A 4.3 V6 would be a better option. Get a vortec 4.3, and you'll have just as much power! And it will be easier to fit!

Theres nothing wrong with the 327. The 350 will make more low end torque. Everything bolts on the same 327 vs 350. Just getting harder to find 327 blocks. The internals will probly be cheaper with the 350 (ie pistons, crank, etc).

The only difference between a 327 and a 350 is the crank, and pistons.
The only notable thing to mention about the 327 is that all factory 327s were 4-bolt and all 327 cranks were steel.
327s had the same bore as a 350 just a shorter stroke so obviously its peak torque will be a few hundred rpm above a 350 (all other things being equal).

Couldnt really say. I had an 80 with a fire breathing 327 and it was a whole lotta fun and I drove across the country and back in that thing. Im currently working on an 88 with a 480ftlbs/ 456hp solid roller 350. Not very practical for the street.
For an easy install and a little better mpg I would go with the 4.3

I have a 68 vette 327 375 hp. motor and it will turn 10g's without blowing up and the low end torque is awsome. I was going to put it in the 4runner but thought for thr same money after addapters and all the 3.4 was the better option but it will never sound as cool as the 327
