22RE Rough start, fuel pressure regulator?

Hi, my name is Jake and i'm having problems with my 91 yota starting, it turns over and fires once then dies, it'll do this a couple times then start at a real low idle unless i crank it over for about seven seconds then it fires and idles fine, it used to fire right up first turn of the key. I've asked a few people and they say fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump could be the problem?

I also have noticed that when its running and its cold if i push the brake pedal the idle drops then rises then drops again is this a vacume leak somewhere? or throtle possitioning sensor or something i changed that about a year ago

any help would be greatly appriciated Thanks,
Jake

Sounds to me like you may have two problems. Check the cold start injector for the start issue and clean the coolent passage through the iac for the surging when you hit the break.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? There is a write up for the IAC, do a quick search.

i had the idle surge when hitting the brake. my idle was set too high. it should be at 750 rpm for a 22RE manual.

It is the computer restricting fuel flow when the brakes are applied. once i set the idle down to normal, it went away.
