22re engine miss
Well, I finally found the source of my engine miss. I will post it to hopefully help other members. My pickup with a 22re had developed a recent miss at 2500-3000 rpm. It ran perfectly at idle and above and below the aforementioned rpm range. The head and of course gasket was replaced 5000 miles ago, along with new timing set, new throttle position sensor, air flow meter, O2 sensor, complete tune-up, injectors. No vacuum leaks, no broken or damaged wires. Cam timing was spot on as was ignition timing. Cylinder head was re-torqued after 500 and then 2500 miles. Valve lash was reset at 2500 miles after head replacement. I finally checked the valve lash again and found the lash had closed up on some of the valves. Reset intakes to .008 and exhausts to .012 and now the truck runs like a Swiss watch. Don't know why it skipped only at that rpm or why the lash closed up so fast, but anyway I hope this may help other people with the same problem.

I don't know if you did this or not, but tips for other as well, when re-torquing head bolts, you will have to reset valve lash afterward. You cannot set valve lash then re-torque. It's also a good idea to actually loosen all rockers when re-torquing to get the most accurate torque specs on the head bolts. Also valve lash should be set when warm and not cold. Which is probably why the valve lash closed up on you.
