I just picked up an 83' griffin edition toy. The smog pump is missing and I was wondering if one can be used even with a 20r head and intake. I have the air pump and am a novice wrencher. Any suggestions or comments would be great. And the proper diagram pic would be great too!

 

why bother with it ... I'd block off the egr crap and cap off the mess of emission vaccuum hoses and get rid of all that emmissoin stuff

 

I was gonna try and smog it the right way. But I got a guy who will get her done. So I think I might do what you were sayin.

 

your 83 still needs pass emmissions?

 

I think so. I dont know exactly what year smog pumps and all the b/s are required. I guess I have to do more research. The bracket for the pump is on the block but I have no idea how to find out what year the motor is. i could have been swapped.
