Photo Gallery coming soon

Soon you will find a link in the NAV bar to our latest edition, a YotaTech hosted photo gallery.

You will be able to upload your photos to the server.

You can upload HUGE pics, but they will show up in your gallery as thumbnails.
When a member clicks on it, it will display the picture at 640 pixels wide, but when that picture is clicked on, it will display it at a maximum of 1280x1024, even if the picture is 1680x1050 as seen by the Unreal Tournament III test picture I uploaded as a test.

Registered Members get 15 MB of storage, and Contributing Members get 25 MB of storage.

Other settings may be changed later, as this is brand new and we are open to feedback on the gallery.

Please do not ask me how to manage or delete your photos, as I have not figured that out yet
I am new to this too...
But I am sure there is a way.

Right now there are two categories setup.
Members Gallery and YotaTech Gallery.
If you click on the Members one, you can search via members name for their pictures, and you can also see some members already who have uploaded pictures and see their entire collection that way.

You can leave feedback in this thread.

I think you will like it.
I will find out how to create separate albums too, it says you can do it, but I have not figured out how to make one for me.

Oh, I figured out how to delete unwanted photos too, it is not to hard to figure out.

This is a good alternative to Photobucket if they are down, or you just want to upload pictures fast to get them into your posts here.

Same thing applies, you have to right click on the photo and get its URL properties before putting it into a thread.
However the pics will not resize themselves when they are in a thread, only in the gallery will they do that.

Attention:

Gallery link is now live in the upper NAV bar.

Have fun!

This has been a public service announcement of the Liandri group.

Only one complaint: The link is in the exact place that the "New Posts" link was.

I click there out of habit, and I keep accidentally going to the Gallery!

A little feedback on this:
Right now you know your pictures get thumbnails made out of them.
If you click it and it is a picture sized at bigger than 640x480, it will only show at a 640x480.

But it you click it, then it can open up your bigger picture at up to 1280x1024, even if the picture you uploaded is sized at 1680x1050.

Should I raise the cap of 1280x1024 in case some of you are uploading bigger pixel pictures to show off detail more?

The file size remains the same if it stays at 1280x1024 or I open it up to show more of the picture in higher resolution.

I hope everyone is enjoying the new Gallery.

Hmm, not to many people are even aware that the photo gallery exist yet. Maybe an announcement on the homepage to bring it to everyone's attention? Just an idea.

I can do that later, but the link is staring right at me in the NAV bar.
I have hit it many times today too thinking it was the "View new posts" link.

There are quite a few new pictures showing up in there.

i've clicked a couple times now thinking it was new posts as well.... so far it looks like it has lots of potential. corey already has my feedback, but i think it would be awsome if people took the time to keyword the pictures. for example not pick on you fo_sheezy, but... https://www.yotatech.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=28 Keywords: inside, the, car doesnt say much. however if you were to put the words: 3rd gen, interior, night, LED, Blue. someone asking about interior shots can search for those keywords instead of creating a thread asking about LED footwell lights mod or what does the interior of a 3rd gen looks like. this will cut down on the "show off you ________" threads. keyword everything, SAS, 35s, Flex, mud, rocks, BFG MTs, Yakima, Roof rack, etc etc. the more keywords the more likely it will be seachable ( just think, being able to yell at someone to SEARCH for asking for pic request)

couple other thoughts:

Taging photos - such as in Myspace and Facebook. allows you to say who's in the pic.

Common or shared albums. - allow multiple users to post pics in 1 album, ie Greenwater run 1/31/08. then everyone who went on that run can upload to that album.

more categories - Member Rides vs Trail run vs etc.

I will have to look Chris.
I did see this option, it was on by default.
Comments increment user post count?
Just as long as we do not get a lot of picture comment whores in there, I can leave it on.
