"Hey Corey, where is my thread?"

I am receiving an awful lot of email and PMs as of late as some are not following the info in this thread.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f121...titles-124787/

The communications to me ask where their missing thread/post is, and more than likely it has been deleted by a staff member.

Creating threads with titles that make no sense or do not pertain to the question being asked fubars and clogs up our search engine making searches for members harder here.

Make sure you also read the rules for the classified section.
If your classified thread does not contain a price and location, it gets axed.
Rules are spelled out pretty simple there.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f121...tplace-215358/
Just yesterday a member PM'd me asking where his thread was, and he even said he read to not contact me.
See post #6 in this thread on who to contact.

Off topic we are more relaxed about it, as it is usually not tech being posted in that section.
But if it is a tech question you are asking, it needs to be worded correctly.
We are not doing this to piss anyone off, we are doing this to make searches easier for members so they do not have to weed through search results that have titles that are not helpful to them.

Also there is a new search engine coming soon to the forum that will help.
That is in the works, and it should be launching soon.
((New search engine is in place now))

And speaking of searching...
Rule # 15
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f104...elines-200183/

We see a lot of threads that get started asking something simple that has already been covered multiple times in other threads.
Creating the extra threads again clogs up searches for members.
All we ask is that you try searching first to see if the topic has been covered already.
There are a few chronic non searchers here that do not like to use the search engine, and they say they got zero results when posting their thread.
Funny thing is a member will post back links to quite a few threads on the subject.
Owned!
Please try searching, more than likely it has been covered.

Also Josh (DeathCougar) is working on an FAQ as he gets times, this should be very helpful in the future.

YotaTech is a very friendly forum and the membership digs helping others, it is obvious here.
There are a lot of forums out there that you would be banned from for not searching or making the thread titles pertain to the contents of the thread.

Please help us to help you though by trying the info in this thread here.
And I want to point out that most of the emails/PMs I receive on where the missing threads have gone are from new signups, not seasoned members.

This thread is open for discussion if you have any info that can further help us on this subject matter.

I am still getting emails on this matter.
Unfortunately I do not have the time to answer them when the answer is here in this thread.

Stuck

I am also going to add a link to this thread on the "Contact Us" page.
Daily I am getting PMs, emails, ect on where a thread is, and I simply do not have time to answer all.

We are not trying to hurt anyone's feelings here, we are trying to clean up the site and make searching easier.

I hope the new search engine is working out for everyone too that tech installed yesterweek.

Hurt our feelings? WELL GUESS WHAT YOU JUST EFFIN DID!!!!
Good job "Corey"(if that's your real name), you just set me up for depression for the rest of my unfortunately long existence.
Now I just hate everyone and everything, the whole world just sucks, I am going to run away and never return.
I am going to sell my Toyota and buy a Ford Ranger, and its gonna be black to match my bleak outlook on life.

So Bon Voyage mother truckers!!!

***READ THIS***

From now on, please PM myself or one of the other mods with any questions regarding threads disappearing.
Corey has PLENTY on his plate as it is trying to keep this place functioning.

I will volunteer myself as your point of contact for thread problems - you can PM or email me via the forum.
If you posted a thread asking a common question, go ahead and assume it is because you didn't search before posting.

Please take an extra 30 seconds before posting threads to make sure they are in the right section and there isn't another thread a page or two below that already has your answer in it.

We have enough work to do on here as it is, we do not have time to babysit and coach you through it...your threads will be deleted at will.

A PM should be sent to you, however, with some of us deleting in excess of 5-10 threads per day that can get very time consuming.

Thanks,

Fink

Just a quick tidbit maybe to help you mods out too. If you want to find where your thread has been relocated to, you can just simply go to your user control panel and look at your profile. Then go to find all thread created by (your user name here), then find what you've posted.

Thanks Mike.
We have had a lot of newbies asking where their threads are, and I guess they do not know this trick.
The mods have told them how to find their threads.

We are still seeing to many threads with ambiguous titles here that do not help the threads to be cataloged by the new and improved search engine, so your thread may not be there when you come back to it.

Making a thread title with just "Help" in it does not help you.
What kind of help?
* Are you having a heart attack?
* Did you take to much Cialis and have an erection that will not go away after four hours?
* Is your mother inlaw coming over for the weekend, and you can not cope with it?

We need clear titles that make sense so the membership can help you too if you have a problem.

Please view this thread on titles.

BINGO - this is by FAR the best way to find your threads.
I encourage ALL members to do this if for some reason one of their threads turns up "missing."
I know I move hundreds if not thousands of Classifieds threads each week - not a big deal but I can understand it must be frustrating if your thread appears to vanish.

Before PM'ing me, which a lot of you have started doing and I hope this has taken some of the burden off Corey, please check your UserCP thoroughly.
You can use Mike's trick or simply go to your "Subscribed Threads" list and look for it that way.

I received a PM (see post #1) just yesterday wondering why their classified thread was gone.
They even wrote that they read to not contact me.

It would be nice to get a short email if a thread is deleted for some reason so a person is not left scratching their head wondering why their thread disappeared.

why is my for-sale thread vanished????? i have been on yota-tech for a year or so, i am more of a reader than a poster , then the one time i want to sell something it disapears , and i get banned for POST PADDING, i just made 5 reply's in one day ?????? is there a max reply number per day?

this forum also needs a better catolog for listing performance parts or non oem part catogroy would be great and navigation is horribly slow and hard to find things to say the least ya'all should take notes from Custom taco's

You don't have 15 posts to post in the classifieds per the rules and posting it elsewhere gets it deleted/banned.

Classified requirements are outlined in the classified rules/stickies.

Post padding(blatant) is also against the posted rules as we get lots of folks doing so simply to sell their stuff and then disappear.

Follow the forum guidelines and you shouldn't have any problems.

Bwill, you have the time, but not the required 15 posts.
Read the classified sticky threads, it explains.

This is to help cut down on scam artists who drop by to sell and run with the $$$, not cause anyone grief.
