Wont start after replacing head gasket....
Hello I'm new at this. After I replaced my head gasket my truck wont start. I have a "toyota service manual" and followed all the directions on putting it back together. I actually pulled the whole engine out and replaced some other things also. Everything went very smoothly. So I was very surprised after putting it back together it doesn't wanna start. It sounds like it wants to start......it pops but just doesn't start.
1) getting spark to all 4 plugs
2) fuel pump works
3) all sensor plugs together tightly
4) all vacuum lines connected properly
I took off the plastic thing that goes from throttle body to the air cleaner and had someone try to start it and flames shoot out from the 4 inch throttle body opening. So I am "assuming" lol that its getting gas to that area. so what else could not make it start if I am getting spark to ALL 4 plugs?
Could it be a timing issue? I installed the distributer exactly how it said in the manual. I put the time chain on exactly like it said. I dont know what to do next besides spending money.....boohoo
....to take it to a shop.
It ran fine before i tackled this project. Or could it be valves not properly adjusted? Or rockers? But if it were that then it would at least still start right?
Please help me before I tow it to the shop with my "working" Hyundai Santa Fe.
If I could afford one of them FJ Cruisers I'd push my truck off a cliff.
Thank You!!

sounds like your distributor is 180 off. That will cause the flames to shoot out the intake lol.
Assuming you have a 22R, its very easy to get the distributor 180 off. Switch it around, and it will run.
