Whats with my hubs??

Hey guys, new to the forum. I have a question. I got some factory manual locking hubs from a buddy of mine which were off of an old 86 4runner with IFS. I rebuilt them and tried to put them on my 95 (which I was told they would fit). The axle shaft was smaller than the hub so obviously it wouldn't lock. My question is are those years even interchangeable? If not, which ones do I need to buy?

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
What size engine do you have? 3.0L V6, or 3.4L V6?

86-95 ARE the same...

You might have a set of straight axle hubs... But I'm not sure... I think they have a different # of splines so there is no way those'd work...

One thing's fer sure... Something's wrong...

I also think there is a way you can put them on and they won't work...

I think you have to make sure the dial is in the locked position and then put them on.

I can't remember, but I think the dial won't rotate all the way and lock, if it's put on un-locker...

IIRC, or that could be visa-versa....

have you tried wiggling them around? maybe the splines arent matching up... make sure the hubs aren't locked too. try switching them to different wheels also.

I definitely tried all of that. The problem is the spline is too big for my axle. The hub will lock in and out no problem. Its very strange. My buddy swears their off of his old 86 IFS. But of course he could be wrong. He also has a few straight axles. But what I don't understand is they are the asian make and everything. Im so confused ha

what colour is the hub dials? Did you check the spline count?

If you don't mind your axle being cocked a little to the side then don't bother with the drop bracket.
