What would cause fuel line to be clogged going into TB

I am going to to try to make this quick and to the point; I have a 1992 yota pu 22re. Purchased truck about a year ago motor had supposedly been rebuilt but truck had sat for a number of years about 8 to be precise P.O. stated truck would run but would not run very well P.O. stated truck had no power and would stall if given fuel at pedal. So i purchased this lil truck and took the lil beauty home. Ive been working on it off and on for a year first thing I noticed was it was not getting fuel so after looking truck over i noticed that it had a aftermarket fuel pump mounted under hood so I was like well that must be the problem right? Well yes and no I took the fuel line apart going into the TB and got a nose full of bad fuel you know that smell that you can never forget. Anyway it was a mess of rust and bad gas and who knows what else. So i did what any guy would do i dropped the tank and guess what I found another mess seems like whoever rigged this mess up didnt bother to remove the in tank puel pump they just decided to suck through it cmon who does that? anyway tank was shot fuel pump and screen were shot and a rusted dirty mess. So I went and found me a perfect tank out of a 87 yota mounted it up blew out fuel lines and got me a brand new Ford E2000 fuel pump and put it back under the hood wired it up added fuel and we were up and going with a very high idle but she was running and with ice cold ac I know because that would be the only time truck would idle normally when ac was on. Been working on it trying to get the idle down, seafoam,Lucas, ect.. well idle came down to normal dont know what I did exactly but then when ac was turned on it would die. Well I kept playing with it noticed that truck would start when cold but not when warmed up Played with timing, idle screw had no affect at all no matter which way I turned it. Next thing the truck would not start at all just turned over. Well i had a clear fuel filter under hood and noticed that is was not flowing as much as it used to when I first put it on in march, probably wouldnt have noticed except truck would not start at all. No fuel was moving through filter now I'm really confused but hey new fuel pumps go bad so i take it off take it back and get another one (thank god for 1 year warranty) decide to put new filter on too while im in there.... so turn on key and fuel filter fills up but does not seem to moving through much if any what the hell i think, pull it off and put the end going into TB into a gas tank turn truck on it starts pumping fuel out of truck tank into gas tank fuel filter is moving fuel through it and everything looks great so i was really confused so i pick up the end going into TB and blow into it but I cant its blocked I get my blow gun and turn on compressor and try to blow it clear, blew the blow gun off the hose it is blocked for sure and that is where I am at what the hell has happened the fuel line is not pinched either i checked.

It sounds like you have a mess on your hands. The fuel pump for your truck is in the tank, not mounted in the engine compartment, the fuel filter should be mounted under the intake manifold. The fuel does not go into the throttle body, the fuel goes into the fuel rail and then into and through the injectors into the engine. It sound like some body has done a lot of rigging to you truck instead of properly fixing it. Any way you can post some picture of what your trying to fix ?.

yeah you are right the fuel line I am refering to is going into the fuel rail not the throttle body. I just went out to garage to double check it. It is clogged for sure. As far as the fuel pump and filter i have both of them mounted under hood on firewall the gas tank im using is from 87 yota pickup 22r tank did not have the fuel pump in the tank so i did not have the option of putting it back in the tank. And from the research i did on this site the Ford E2000 fuel pump whould work well key word here being SHOULD. Anyway i will try to post pics tonight.

If your sure the fuel rail is plugged, the only way to clean it out is to remove it and the fuel injectors and clean it out. The injectors will probably also be plugged. Before you take it a part you will need to get new seals and o-rings for the injectors and fuel rail.

Also try tapping on the injectors... I've tried starting up a junk yard motor with no success, that fired up after some tapping on the injectors...

it's also common with vehicles that have set for a long time.

The ethanol in fuels should break it up, and it prolly what is responsible for the clog in the 1st place.

Any car that sits with some fuel in the tank is going to have a lacquered tank.

Keep it full, or ad a fuel stabilizer...

I'd pull the drain plug and get what's off the bottom myself.

oh my...

I've went back and read some...

I had a truck do that to me one time, all I can say is it pays to have a friend that has a commercial car wash

Remove the tank and have it cleaned. The reason I say that is b/c you have a little tube in the bottom of your tank that is responsible for keeping the level full in what is know as a slosh tank.

8 years parked, and I'd say that's gonna require more than just pulling the plug and running something through the fuel system.

A clogged slosh tank tube will result in the truck running out of gas at just a little less than half a tank full of fuel.
Slosh tank...

very helpful tried4x2 sign

darkadie-one of the first suggestions I got on this fine forum was how to break up the posting into snippets of info-see posting #5 from tried as an example. The person who explained it to me was very polite about it and I will try to do same with you.

Kind of like English class- how your teacher would encourage you to use paragraphs to organize your paper-instead of one long run on sentence.

See what I mean? It just becomes very difficult to read your original post. You're expressing yourself fine-it just becomes a real eye strainer to read it.

Hit enter once or twice between sentences or paragraphs to break it up a bit -it helps everyone want to read it and offer a suggestion or 6.

Best of luck with your issue and to answer the thread question-it is the gasoline itself that is causing the clog. Additionally, it sounds like the previous owner has re-plumbed some of the fuel line-but we can't be sure without viewing what it looks like under the hood.

No photo host is required any longer to post a photo and if you need help with that I am glad to try to walk you through it. It took me a couple of years personally to figure out photos and now I use Facebook to store mine, as a reference resource and within my signature link below my postings.

Welcome to Yota Tech and I hope we all can help you get your ride running better than new once this gasoline is cleaned out and replaced.

I would not be surprised if perhaps you could use some new fuel line as well, but do not go replacing stuff without 2nd or 3rd opinions. Talk is cheap and parts are not.
