I just found out that I am gonna need some new tires. I have a 96 SR5 and I wanted to see what would fit w/o a lift. I am not ready for a lift, yet, but I want a lil bigger tire than my 265/70 16's. I'm not looking to spend alot of money on a particular type of tire just the size.

you in a 4wd?, 265/75/16s in a AT or MT will be the biggest that you can fit without rubbing or minimal rubbing. 285s wont fit, however Im sure they could with a 1 inch lift and reallly precise trimming, but if you plan n going any bigger 2.5 lift and a 1 inch body will save you the trouble of the dremmel and sissors.

Also if you need any more ideas, search around im sure that I did not cover nearly as much as others have in various other threads

Yeah, 4wd and a SR5.....truck sat for a year and I have flat spots in 3 out of my 4 tires!!

Yup, been through this at least a thousand times. That's gonna be the most you get without trimming, or changing wheels. The search function is your friend...

tried driving around to let the tires round themselves back out again? i know it works for bias tires but not sure for radials...anyway like everyone said, 265/75/16 is a little taller than what u have now. theres also a 275/70/16 which is a little taller and wider than what u have now. (the 275 is shorter than the 265/75 though)

Edit: Although I have not seen this, and am not running these myself, when I purchase new tires, I am going to heavily consider this size.

you could fit 37s with no lift, but you're fenders might not look OEM.

I once fit 48's under there on stockies but I had to trim minorly on the fender flair and didn't wanna have to do that, so I switched back to 285's.

He could utilize 60"+ tractor tires, just depends how much comfort is willing to be sacrificed.

i personally think that the tires from a caterpillar 621B scraper would be rather efficient in my opinion.

Yes, they are over six feet tall, but the ground clearance gained would be superb.

I'm thinking, why even go with tires, why not tracks? They'd be way better in mud and snow. They do sacrifice a SMALL amount of ride quality on the highway, though.
