The large hole is about 3/4" in diameter, and located 1/3rd of the way over from the passenger side of the truck. about four inches up from the edge of the hood.

If it was for a hood ornament I would at least assume the person who put it there could do it SOMEWHERE close to the middle of the hood, so unless someone was drunk I don't think that's the purpose. I have been wrong before though >_<.

Is it possible it's for air circulation? It doesn't seem like it's near anything that would need to be cooled.

Beginning to think it's just someones joke or a 'custom hood hole'. >_>

could be many things - hood ornament, single aux light mount, hood pin mount (but there'd be 2???), hood-mounted side mirror, deer whistle, front mount for racking system (kayak/canoe?), front tie-down point? who knows?

 

My first thought was some kind of antenna.
