what is the largest tire I can fit?

I just got this 4runner. It is a 96 with a 2.5inch Revtech lift. Right now I have 31inch thornbirds, but they looks small. Also, what is the stock size tire that goes on these?
Thanks for your time
Patrick

That is the million dollar question isn't it? Thankfully, it gets asked a million times and a quick search will give you the answer you need.

No bigge, searching for "what size tires" gave me several topics, even some with the title "what size tires should I get?"

You can fit a 285/75/16 or really close to a 33" tire with the correct backspacing on your wheels. But yeah just do a little search under the search bar and you can get lots more info and lots more detail.

Thornbirds look cool but all in all if you read the thread posted by Elton above you can see they suck. But nice runner I like that color.

wow. thornbirds sound nice I have noticed that they drive like trash. On the highway it seems like the 4runner is all over the place catching every rut in the road. feels extremely unsafe.

With your lift, you could easily fit 265/75/16's. If you go to 285's, you'll rub in the front when you turn your wheels...

You could also fit 255/85/16's (33.3 x 10) Not too much for selection, but they are taller than a 285

Probably would need a 1"-2" body lift to fit that size tire with your lift:

wow. im confused..
" 1" body lift, and front torsion bar lift (1"-2") or 1.5" ball joint spacer and some sort of rear suspension lift (such as longer spring shackles or a coil spring spacer) to level the truck, "
I'd need to get a 1in lift and a front torsion bar lift(Im not even sure what that is) or I can bypass needing the torsion lift by getting a 1.5in ball joint spacer?
sorry for my lack of experience w these. hopefully I can learn quick.

If you are talking about the 3rd gen 4Runner (96-02), then it is coil spacers or lift springs that you need, as you have coil springs front and rear. Torsion bars on on the 2nd gen (90-95) 4Runners.
