thornbirds?
im looking at getting some 33's. i love the look of the thornbirds, either 33x12.5x15 or 33x10.5x15. im running 15x8 MT Classic II's right now. does anybody know how loud these tires will be on the road. super swamper says that the lugs don't touch on the highway but do in the mud. im looking for an aggressive looking tire but do not want a radial because thats what i have now. love the thornbirds and would get a pair just want to make sure they aren't to loud.

I've never personally had a set, but from what I have read and heard, they really aren't that great of a tire, either on road or off. They do look cool, that is true, but after what I've read and heard, I'd never get some.

I've never ran them, but they have a horrible reputation on TTORA.
Reconsider your opinion about radial/biasply tires. I'm currently running my bias SS TSL's everyday (due to issues with my regular tires), and they SUCK on the road. They cost me about 2 MPG and they ride REALLY rough, at least until they warm up. They are VERY difficult to balance.
If you are having problems with sidewalls, and are thinking the biasplys would be better, get a radial with a reinforced sidewall, like the Goodyear MTR, which is a very nice riding tire on the road. I hear that the TRXUS MT is even quieter on the road than the MTR, and it has some siping, so it would probably be better year round.

I drove a jeep with a set. The road manners were SCARY. I also know a guy who had them on a different jeep. They don't get any traction in mud, they just dig ruts, and stop your forward progress.
Pretty much, they look cool, suck on the road, suck off the road. They are bias tires which means the tread life will suck and they'll ride like a log wagon. Plus they're not that cheap either.
I say don't get em.
I take back the off road part.....if your vehicle is laying on one side, they'll be the best tires ever with all that shlock on the sidewalls.

Around these parts, they are known as Stuckbirds, only set I've seen off road was on a Jeep stuck on a nearly flat trail with a little water and mud on it. Not even a spot that you would slip a tire on, but they needed to winch him over that slippery spot.
