welding sliders to frame, input?

I'll have to weld bottom to top then if it's got better penetration. Guess I never thought of it that way, but then again I don't have a lot of experience welding either. Just when I need to get the job done I bust it out.
I just finished up one side. I'm starting up the second side right now. I'll try and get up some pics, but it's kinda a pain as the forum always says my photos are too large to upload. It turned out pretty good though.

Here are the sliders mounted
Sliders Welded On
This is the easiest way for me to put the images up on here since the forum doesn't automatically re-size images.

gravity helps get better pen welding bottom-top with mig... and scuba... running flux core is half your problem. Unless you're out in BFE in a windy storm throw that spool of flux into the garbage and get a shield tank!
I've installed a bunch of sliders, best method is to tack it all how u want it and pull it off weld it right and then put 'er back on. Tho i still put my scab plates on first then mock up the sliders... when you include the scab plates into your tack a thon... when you fully weld them to the sliders then go to fully weld the sliders to the frame its NOT gonna fit how it was... simple physics with the whole welding thing. Heat warp/shrinkage of metal parts. Tho a big o C-clamp is a good solution to that problem.
goodluck, this stuffs easy

I have a question for the guys here with sliders. I plan on getting/making a set when I get back and read a little debating the welding/bolting on. For any of you guys that have welded them on have you ever regretted not just bolting them on so you could remove them later? I can't think of any reason to ever remove them but I've never had a set either......

IDK, if you have a new truck then maybe that'll be a better bet but on an older truck.. don't waste your time bolting them on.
