Weber 32/36 choke cable linkage?

I want to install a choke cable on this new-to-me 22r. I found a YouTube video of a dood installing a new cable on this same carb (32/36 DGV manual choke). In the video, I can see I am missing the choke cable holder/bracket, which I'm sure I can fab up fairly easily. However, I'm curious what the vertical wire linkage arm is for (see screenshots 2 & 3 red circle). You can see my carb is missing that wire hook and whatever it attaches to below. I'm not sure what it does or if I need it. Thanks for any help.

Found another image online. Looks like that choke linkage might be connected to the throttle?
