u-bolt flip plates

u-bolt flip plates
I'm going to be flipping my u-bolts and making the plate myself. I'm going to be using the trail-gear design. I'll use 1/2" steel plating and bend it up at the end. But will I need to relocate my shocks on a 94 4x4 pickup?

I like the heavier spring plates, they are so much nicer when it comes to torquing down the u-bolts. My old axle had flat 1/2" plates and I now run 3/8" plates with bent up ends. I find on the thicker plates, the u-bolts tighten up in a turn or so while with the thinner plates like I first got from All-Pro, you had to keep cranking and cranking on the torque wrench before they would get tight. The thinner metal just would deform around the spring pack.

Lots of places may the shock tabs, pick the style you want or BudBuilt has some bolt-on versions. I originally ran a shock mount that slipped in under the spring pack, that worked well:
