Replacing the rocker tower screws 22re

3/4's of the way through rebuilding my 22re in my 4x4 1993 pickup, want to replace the phillips screws holding the rocker shaft in the tower (3 total) with hex head button screws. I cannot for the life of me find the part number or a vendor that sells this exact bolt. I tried ordering from McMaster Carr and the bolts they sent are trash and are not even threaded all the way up to the button head, and so wont seat flush in the tower. Any suggestions?

I never heard of a hex head button screw. Button head screws usually are round. Are you looking for a socket head button screw? For a torx or Allen head shaped socket?

McMaster-Carr shows the drawing of the screws they sell if you click on the link. It shows the detailed dimensions. They also give specs like the grade rating and hardness.

Toyota hardware is JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) McMaster-Carr lists JIS hardware in their search menu. Yes you can use non JIS as long as the thread pitch is a match but it sucks having to use different sockets and wrenches if that matters to you.

Try belmetric.com I found some bolts for my Toyota that I couldn't find anywhere else.

Thanks aztoyman. I misspoke, I'm looking for button head hex (or torx) drive. The problem with the McMaster Carr screws (https://www.mcmaster.com/91239A314/) is that even though they are sold as full thread, and the pictures on their website show the bolts to be fully threaded; on the actual bolt there is about 1/16" length below the button head that is not threaded and this prevents the bolt head from seating properly on the tower surface. I called their customer support and they said all of their bolts will likely have the same issue and they couldn't find a replacement.

Looks like Bellmetric does not stock the dimensions I need, I also can't tell from the picture if their bolts will have the same issue since they obscure just below the button head... I may just reuse the JIS screws I have, but they're a little stripped from the teardown.

I just did a quick search and these are still available new from Toyota. They are M6-1.0 X 12mm long and McMaster-Carr lists a few options for you that should work. They have high strength with Allen socket, Torx, Torx Plus, Phillips, Slotted..... They are button head and they also have flanged button head and others. They even have the exact same as the JIS factory ones.

McMaster-Carr Item # 91306A671 is $8.03 for a bag of 50. They are zinc plated, high strength, fully threaded and look like your factory one except you tighten with an Allen wrench instead of a JIS screwdriver.

ACE Hardware probably has them if you don't want to order in bags of 50.

EDIT. Sorry I saw your last post after I posted this.

Can you install a hardened washer under the bolt head? You can compensate for the thickness with a slightly longer bolt if needed.
The latest Toyota part number for the OEM bolt is 93210-56008. Using a JIS screwdriver helps avoid stripping the "Phillips" head. Check out the Vessel brand online. Even Amazon has them. They are Made in Japan and work great.

IDK why my text turns black. 93210-56008 is the new bolt part number.
Use a JIS screwdriver like Vessel brand to avoid stripping them.
