Two Fuel Pumps ???

Hello everyone, I just got my self a 1st gen yota 2 days ago. I have been looking for one for a while now. The truck being an 82 needs some engine work. It Idols rough so I was snooping around under the engine and I found a mechanical fuel pump on the side of the head. That's cool, so I was fallowing the lines and I ran into another electric fuel pump on the pass side fender well. I find 2 fuel pumps interesting and was wondering if this is normal for 1st gen toyotas. Ive never seen 2 fuel pumps on a vehicle before, but I'm new to Toyotas. I don't have a shop manual or any thing yet so I was hopping all of you could maybe help me out.

Much appreciated
Kris

Someone likely had (or thought they had) fuel issues, and added a 2nd pump to maintain flow. Chances are it's either not needed, or covering up another problem.

I have two pumps ...... But that's for other reasons.
