Trying to drop A/T pan...
Hi all, I actually joined here a couple of years ago, but I hardly ever post so I had to start over after my username became invalid... Anyway, I loosened the sway bar and removed the bolts after draining the fluid, but the dip stick part that you pour fluid down into is still attached and I don't know how to get it off so I can slip the pan off. The repair manual didn't even mention that part. Please help, thanks in advance..

There is a bolt (nut?) that attaches the upper portion of the dip stick tube to the block...remove bolt. Now, give the tube a firm tug and it will separate from the lower tube. The lower tube is brazed to the pan so be careful that you don't bend or torque the tube.
You'll need a new o-ring at the joint where the tubes slip together.

So I got it off and changed the filter and now I need to know if there is a way to get the pan gasket to seal on or do I try to torque the pan down while trying to keep the gasket from flopping all over the place much to my frustration ?

Use some RTV to help make the gasket stick in place.
