lol^^^^

And Hippy. Don't knock it till you tried it... I once had a A340f truck and it did outstanding!

And go wheeling with an AT'd rig... You can't beat point and shoot...

This H case alone has ruined the rep of any discussion having Toyota and Auto trans in the same sentence...

And there was a geared TC behind the R151. Maybe that's where the FSM is getting confused...

I think it's interesting that the OP still hasn't answered us regarding AT vs MT in his truck.

Unfortunately all the pics are gone from this thread where we tried to talk a guy out of "taking my t case off". The pics were a classic mess of parts strewn all over.

Tried using this thread to convince him but no go.

Other interesting t case/tranny reading for the curious.

I did...ONCE. It was a Bronco II. Took it up the mountain into some 2 foot deep snow. Actually did pretty well...for a _ord. Didn't manage to get 'er stuck, though I tried a couple times. Didn't have any real need to down-shift though either.

Ya see, that's my biggest peeve when it comes to autos. I've got a chronic down-shifting habit. Gots to have my engine brakes at a moments notice. I even do alot of the down-shifting into 1st. But...that's never worked too well. I'll still keep tryin' though!

Alright, I know you've got a digital camera. Or where'd you get the pic for you're avatar there? If you borrowed someone else's for that, go get it.

THEN...

Take a pic of this stupid thing and we'll keep banging away at it 'till we can get this thing accomplished. Or atleast get to the dead-end quicker, and then you can get yourself back to square one sooner, if no further progress is possible with what you've got.

Because, at this point, I believe we're all a little lost. Don't feel too bad. But we gots the links an' such, and are all more than a bit curious whether you'll be able to make 'er work or not. And are still quite willing to help you out if we can.

Pulling my hair out...

How does a TC have 23 splines when in the diagram, it doesn't even separate from the transmission?

And 2nd, "rear coolant line".

hmmm, gee.... Wonder...

OK lets forget about the t case I have, I found a guy parting out 2 4runners one is a 4 cyl. 5 speed the other is a 6 cyl. 5 speed. Which 1 is the better application to mate it with the 700r4. I can get either 1 for the same price $125 and i wont no which engine the trucks have until i get there tomorrow or sunday ( hope this can help me). Thanx to Mudhippy and tried4x2sigN 4 your time and help on this one and as soon as i can get to the locked front diff problem I will let you know.

Why, gears of course...

All V6's, and all AT's have chain driven cases...

Chains aren't bad, and they do come factory with gears lower than the gear driven case... But behind american power I'd go gear...

And not only that, much more aftermarket is behind the case that made Toyota what it is today...

Not to mention I don't think there is an adapter for the chain case...

Yessir! I agree.

I'm fine with what I've got....chain drive. But most folks, including me from time to time, would rather have the versatility of the gear drive RF1A.

There's adapters for 'em if you had to. 23 spline chain drive to 700R4 and 26 spline chain drive to 700R4

But if not.

Another on bites the dust here too sounds like. Again no pics though...
