Yes, but for the price of the Toyota oil, which is 4-5 dollars per quart, I would rather buy Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil. And Napa's "red coolant" is probably not the same as Toyota coolant. So far, I know of a few "colored" coolants, some specifically used by certain manufacturers: yellow (ford), orange (gm), pink (factory filled in new toyotas), red (factory toyota over-the-counter), blue (honda), and the typical green stuff. Certain manufacturers will recommend their specific coolants, obviously.

So what are the specific requirements? That's the question...

Well after doing a ton of searching I've decided against the "toyota red" for my 20 yr old truck anyway. It seems the current toyota coolant is made for mainly aluminum engines? My old Toyota has a cast iron engines and there seems to be a problem with switching to the red coolant because of the deposits left from 20 yrs of running the good ol' green coolant.
I don't really want to invite problems at this point. I think the main point is you're supposed to use whatever your Toyota shipped from the factory with. The newer ones do ship with the red coolant. But back in 87' they didn't.
Interesting reading though.

Interesting reading...
When I had my timing belt and water pump changed a few months back, I asked about the coolant thing. The 18 year veteran mechanic said it wont really make a squat bit of difference which I run.... so I brought my own green coolant and he used that.

Just food for thought.
