Question towing capacity 93 2wd 3slow?

ive searched a few places.....came up with mixed answers.
does anyone know the actual rated towing capacity of my 93 base ext cab 3vze auto?
camper sites dont even list my truck.

some sites state 3500 lbs, others state in the mid 2k's.

heres my problem....im in the market for a 16-21 foot camper for traveling/vacation/get-away.something with a bathroom, sleeps 4....i need to know what to start looking for.

if i change gears will that safely allow my yota to pull more? (i know gears give you more power)
or is the ratting based on chassis design/stiffness?

i know my 82 states it can pull 2'000 lbs....but i dont see that happening,it just pulls itself along at the moment.
if all else fails....ill build a nice rack on the 82....roof-top tent that b%&*#....but the wife wont sleep in the tent, and no room for my 2 kids and wife in the 82's cab.
looking to pull something to sleep 4 without buying another truck.

thanx!

Leave the wife at home!! Just take the kids much more fun that way.

If this was going to be pull the camper to a campground where it lives all season. I would say get someone else to do it.

Till you get a camper that has room to sleep 2 adults and 2 Kids and all the gear to last a long weekend in any kind of comfort.

The weight is going to be so much your going to be buying a new truck because this one is dead.

The weight limits are more for braking and handling then pulling.

The size of something you can drag around with the your truck is going to be so uncomfortable your wife will no doubt kill you or worse.

I have a friend that has one extra kid then you took out the trans on his 1/2 ton Dodge pulling a camper about the size you will need.

I have been installing trailer hitches and fixing electric trailer brakes for 30 years I have seen a few strange things in my time.

Good luck

lol thanx for that info.

im looking at a 4 sleeper 16 footer that weights 2300 lbs dry weight.
i plan on upgrading the braking and trailer brake setup aswell.

wish i still had my 87 dodge w150 power ram 4x4.

id hate to kill the wore out 93 trying to lug a camper around.it will get used 4-8 times a year.pulled a max of 500 miles 1 way there,500 more back.
