Timing Belt Advice and Concern

Hey all,

So my 1989 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with the V6 engine has 310,000 miles, and I have no idea when the timing belt was last serviced.

The truck has been meticulously maintained mechanically, so I am hoping it is okay, but nevertheless I need to have it checked.

Firstly: What is the consensus on part manufacturer? I am tempted to stick with genuine toyota parts for the belt, tensioner, water pump, etc. Is there a cheaper option that would be just as good?

Secondly: Is the belt easy to check on this truck, or does it require major disassembly? I am wondering if I can check it visually first, or if I should just blindly buy the parts because getting to the belt is half the battle.

Thanks.
