Are these timing guides original?
Are these OEM or have they been replaced? 94 22re 2wd 150k miles. You can see a wear mark in the drivers side but cannot feel it with your finger. No breaks, no missing pieces.

that looks like the original set. Full plastic on the right side guide and the weird brown toyota color. Why do you ask? Looks like there is a groove going on there. Chain is probably stretching out and starting to make noise. The rig is probably in need of a timing job

Most that come to me have the broken right side guide. Only a few I have ever done actually wore through the timing cover and flooded everything. In my experience it is hard to say how many more miles you have until flooding.
I tore down a motor at our shop once with the original chain. The motor had 270,000 miles. Thats at the extreme end i reckon. It is a pretty straightforward job. Best to take care of it sooner than later. The only big maintenance these 22r and re's require.

It is already apart with it staring you in the face---go for it and don't worry about it later. I am doing the same on my 84 with a 162k on the odometer. I have mine partially apart fixing a small oil leak.
