Is there a oem spec page on 4runners?
There are several of these for Hondas but I can't seem to find one for Toyotas?
I would like to know if the 2nd gen 4runners have a electrically driven speedo/odometer. I see alot of posts talking about getting a GPS when they lift their trucks to have a correct speedo. I put gears in my 96 S10 & took it over to the dealership & they reprogramed the ecu for the gears I installed.
Is this possible on a 93 4runner?

it should be in the specifications section of your owner's manual. do you not have it?
and are you asking if the speedo can be recalibrated to match your upgraded tires? if so, i dont think many people here do it b/c of the cost. a local shop here charges $150, butyou have to bring the tach/speedo cluster! imho like the rest of us, not worth it

I don't have a 4runner yet. I signed up here before I purchased one to learn as mush as I could before I made a purchase.

A lot of specs can be found @ 4x4 wire via http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts
Also there's a factory service manual for a 1993 pickup (engine and tranny specs will be the same) @ http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/
Marlin's site will help some as far as transmissions go, but I believe they only list 1st gear. http://www.marlincrawler.com/trans.html The really cool part of this page is that you can have an import set of gears put into a R150 or 151 and get a ratio of 1st-5.15, 2nd- 2.75, 3rd- 1.93, 4th- 1.00 and 5th- 0.82 with a reverse gear of 4.23. Marlin also offers replacing an R150F transmission with a 1st gear from a 151 making the ratio 4.31 vs. 3.83
Stock gear ratios may be found here for all tranny ratios- http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/other/4_dts.html
BTW, the R150F transmission (behind the 3.0) is as follows- 1st 3.830, 2nd 2.062, 3rd 1.436, 4th 1.00, 5th 0.838. Reverse: 4.220
As far as the speedo is concerned, I personally am regearing from 4.56's to 4.88's (stock 31's to 33's) and this will bring the speedomoter back to its original calibration. You may want to consider this as an option if you're considering regearing and larger tires. My 4Runner came with 225/75R15 tires on it when I bought it, no wonder it felt so fast! It ran the miles up quickly though since the speedo was about 10% faster. There *may* be a different speedometer gear that will help in correcting the speedometer. I haven't heard of this for Toyotas, but someone did the exact same thing with an Isuzu.
On a side note, be sure to check all of the transfer cases as well. Most sites I mentioned have these listed, particularly 4x4wire. Chain driven transfer cases are considered to be weaker than gear driven, but they do offer a lower gear ratio stock. ie. the V6 5spd has a 2.57 low range whereas the 4 cylinders have a 2.28 ratio. Not a big difference now that I typed it out lol
Unfortunately a chain driven T/C must be replaced with a gear driven transfer case in order to put lower gears in. IIRC, this requires an adaptor plate and either a 23spline T/C from a 22RET or a 23 spline adaptor and any geared T/C case- all available from marlin.

Wow Rusty I did not know that about regearing & chain driven T/C's
That really makes me take a 2nd look at getting a 3rd gen 4runner.
I was planning on 32's or 33's & a regear.
