temp gauge spiking

i have an 87 22re engine new short block and rebuilt head. about 15000 miles on the new engine. radiator is a 3 stack and about a year old. i took off the old fan and replaced it with a electronic fan. was running fine for 4 months then my temp gauge started to spike from the normal temp, which is just below half, up to just under the red. then it will slowly drop back down. this happens on hills at high speeds and then again the other day going down hill. driving around town is fine. i have replaced the water pump, and the thermostat. flushed the radiator and burped it at least 5 times. any ideas?

Same thing happened with me, i tryed flushing it out and nothing.it looked super clean from the top, but i Pulled out my ac condensor and powerwashed the radiator and there was mud caked in everywhere, even after powerwashing it several times through the top and bottom. All good now!

The radiator is probably plugged internally.

made it back from my trip. and it seems to have fixed itself. although i'm not holding my breath. it was really hot where i live when the problum was happaning. and now it's cooler so maby that was it. although that dosent make allot of sense.
