Teach me to boost

I want to DIY a turbo on my 93 pickup with a 22re (mostly for some extra power so going downhill on the highway isnt the only way i can get up to speed). The only problem is I know close to nothing about turbos. Basically what all do I need and what can I do without? I've heard low boost doesnt really require an intercooler or wastegate. But again, what all do I need to have?

Do a head cam and header. turbo is a waste of time and money.

It can be done but the cost per horsepower gain is quite high .

You would need to build the whole engine spend several thousand dollars or spend double that amount to be close to equal of a stock 3.4
