Tailgate Relay Box Question.

I have a 1991 forerunner SR5, where the consul switch and the key will not lower the rear window. I have attempted to bypass the wiper circuit with a jumper cable, and that does nothing. If I disconnect the motor from the circuit and connected directly to a 12 V source, the window does lower so the motor is good. I have continuity through the wires from the switch as well as the door key mechanism which leads me to this relay box, my question is a third GEN tailgate relay box work in a second GEN? I can always order a second GEN one on eBay, but there is a guy parting out a third GEN locally that would save me some money and time.

any other troubleshooting suggestions would be helpful as well

The BK/W wires off the rear end switch ought to associate with the intertwined power source rather than ground. The scramble switch will require power also... ought to be Blue/(white or dark stripe? Cant recollect). On the scramble switch, you might have to sever a shared conviction pin with the goal that the P/LB and P/LG wires are not shorted together when the switch is in nonpartisan (this would empower the two transfers, and nothing would move). Adjust this switch last, and test the circuit prior to doing it in the event that you change you mind about things.

The tailgate key switch operates the window motor by grounding two different pins on the relay box. One for window down and another for window up.
There should be no power supplied to the key switch ever.
Pretty sure the same situation with the console switch but wired so that the console switch requires ignition key on power to function.
As to cross compatibility between 2nd and 3rd gen control boxes, I don't know.
