tail light relay?

I'm having a interesting problem on my '85 pickup.

When I turn on the headlights, and then turn them off, my parking/tail lights stay on. I disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, and reconnect it. The parking / tail lights are off until i turn them back on. I can hear the relay clicking, but I suppose it could be bad.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Relays can go bad, but usually they just stop working, but being an electrical part anything is possible, so i guess it could stick in the on position. Try replacing it with another one and see what happens.

Well, it's not the relay. I pulled the relay out, and the lights stayed on. My investigations found a fried wire in the old radio wiring harness. I'm guessing it might be the dash light dimming wire.

The wire is fried from the radio harness to the fuse box. It is shorting out with the 12v wire from the brake lights.

Where is the relay located? I have a 83 truck and my headlights and brake lights work great but my tail lights and the marker lights dont work. The dash lights arent working either. I checked the fuses but will probably just change them all..Any info would be great...Thanks Kyle
