Tacoma Prerunner lift on a 95 4Runner?

So i spent a few hours at the shop today exploring all my options and the guy told me I can put a 4 inch 96-04 Tacoma Prerunner front end Truxx lift kit on my automatic IFS 95 4Runner and fabricate some coils they had sitting around for the back for considerably less than it would cost me to get a kit actually built for my 4Runner.

Have any of you heard of this? I just wanted to verify this information before i take my truck in just to find out it doesn't fit and I owe 150 dollars in labor fees. lol

I have a part number for this Truxx lift kit also if it matters.
It's part #: 909031

If it doesn't end up fitting and they find that out after taking it apart, am i still responsible for paying the labor fees?

Thanks for any help.

Don't do that, buy a real lift. And no you can't the 95 Had torsion bars, not coils so don't. It's a totally different suspension.

Well the coils were only on the rear, the front end truxx lift would be for the front and wiki says that the 95 4runner rear suspension is on coils and not torsion bars.

Well $460 sounds a lot nicer than $1300 which was the starting price for a lift on an automatic IFS 95 4runner. Don't hate on it just because it's not brand name or something. =/

I don't think it would work as the 4runner has the old IFS suspension (torsion bars) and the taco has the newer style IFS.

Are you absolutely positive on that? I'd hate to miss out on the chance to save almost 800 dollars. Maybe I should just let them order it and see what happens.

Yeah man you gota use the search, After some quick searching I am sure that tacos dont have torsion bars they have coil overs up front just as the 96+ 4runners do. Only the 86-95 4runners and pickups have torsion bars up front. Your going to be wasting your money if you order that kit man

There gonna want a deposit from you before they order it

Why not go with bj spacers and land cruiser coils for the rear very cheap and you should be able to fit 33's iirc

What are you gonna do when something breaks? Like one of their coils they made for you? There is no warranty for that. You will get screwed if it happens on the trail.

Godforbid it happens on the street while hitting a pothole.... That could cause an accident.

There's a reason why those lifts are so expensive. First is quality, second is materials.

I'm all for saving a few bucks when it's reasonable to do so. But don't put yourself (and others) in danger because you want to save some change.

This is a reputable corporate business. It's not going to be some backyard job if that's what you're thinking. lol, they're professionals. they said they'd put together parts for the rear end from other lift kits they've got.

i want to know what shop told you this?! let me guess 4wheelparts?! because there is NO way a lift for a 96+ tacoma will fit on a 95.... custom coils in the rear i believe.... wouldnt do it personally because that most likely will just mean they are going to cut down some coil to make it work..... again 95 IFS has T-bars 96+ has coilovers.

this will not work.

balljoint spacers and LC coils or ifs bracket lift. or SAS it.

edit*

from Truxxx website: were do you plan on putting this on your 95 4runner?

Good luck with that.

Let us all know how that Tacoma lift works on your 2nd Gen 4Runner

Despite people telling you it won't work, you continue to argue. I would never trust a shop that tells me a Coilover lift will fit a Torsion bar truck, to build me "custom coils". Custom coils? Sure, coupla welds and VIOLA! Custom coils!

Tell you what, bring it to me. If you believe the BS they are feeding you, I will install the lift for $250.

Again, in case you missed it: THE TACOMA LIFT will NOT WORK on the 95 4RUNNER

I'm not arguing that it will/won't work, i'm simply not taking what they said to be 100% positive because they didn't seem too sure themselves. If you feel you need to degrade someone for not taking someone serious when they themselves aren't 100% positive, you can leave my thread and maybe spend some more time flirting with the e-hos.

Tofer, the place doing it is this place. I haven't actually heard of this being possible before and it doesn't really surprise me that it's not, that's why i asked for some feedback with facts, not just "its not brand name" which seems to be an acceptable reason for DC up there. Thanks for the info tofer.

what?!!

everyone has said this will not work... yet you seem to be negitive towards everyone who has said so, as if you believe it will.. if it looks like a duck, quack like a duck, and several people ( people who KNOW toyotas) have told you its a duck.... then it just may be a F'ing duck. if you want to start an e-name calling session, post this thread, let us tell you it wont work, spend the money and PROVE US wrong... then you can be hostile.. otherwise sit back and accept the knowledge that others have provided you.

nobody has said "its not brand name" because 1) it wont work therefore brand has nothing to do with it. and 2) there are PLENTY of other "non brand name" / "non- buy it out of the box store and take it home" lifts out there..... ball joint spaces and land Cruiser Coils for example.... throw some specially cut chunks of aluminum between you upper control arm and your ball joint. then go find a toyota landcruiser and grab the springs off it..... where is the brand name in that?!

see the thing in the chicks hand? that is the coil over.... what your buying from TRUXX is that silver spacer on top of the coilover..... now, go out to your truck and tell me where you would put that...

more pics of coil overs:

here is what your truck will look like

notice how there is only a shock, not a coil spring over it?? that is becuase it uses Torsion bar for the spring. you can see the black bar running to the back of the truck.

but if you still dont believe us.. feel free to have them install the tacoma lift kit...... i'd love to see pictures of it when its done.

A few people said it wouldn't work and none of them listed reasons why it wouldn't work so why should i believe them? There was no knowledge in that. There was knowledge in me requiring the facts to why it shouldn't work. Sorry but that's just how I see things.

Do the ball joint spacers work on an automatic? I thought they didn't.

nobody has said "its not brand name"
I'm just saying I wouldn't buy this random lift.
What happened to the helpful people around here? all i get is attitude now for asking for info.
