Tacoma: Better traction

I have a non TRD, can I get the third member from a TRD and swap it in my rear axle?

If not what do you guys reccomend, I don't want a lunch box locker. I think a e-lock is the way to go, so is detroit the way to go.

thanks guys I'm coming from full size/dana axle side of the world and don't know jack about toyo axles. good ring gear size!

just cause its a TRD doesnt mean it has the locker, make sure it does before you pull it, and it would prob be easier to just change the whole axle, that way you dont have to modify your pumpkin at all

and if you just wanted to buy a new 3rd member set up you can get a new one with 4.10 gears for 950 from marlin crawler

I thought the Tacoma axles use 8.4" ring gears, and the E-locker uses an 8" ring gear?

That was my recollection as well. So I don't believe you can swap just the third.

I thought all TRD Tacomas did come with the locker.

Non TRD Locker equipped axles have an 8.4"

TRD Locker equipped have an 8"

Just get the whole housing, and you'll be fine.

As in the entire drum to drum assembly.

Thirds are not interchangeable between TRD and nonTRD Tacomas.

You could go with a Detroit locker or an ARB in your existing housing/thirdmember.

Ox, ECTED, Electrac, etc are not available for Toyota axles
