Suspension overhaul

Not much of a wrencher myself, skill, facilities, or equipment =\ but sort of taking over dads truck. I want to improve driveability and safety a bit.

Im looking closely at the Toyo Open country a/t or h/t, love their proxes 4 on my Acura.

Rear sags, im sure the rest could be improved.

'84 340kmi, mostly original hardware

Its going to see 96%tarmac, 2%snow/ice, 2% dirt/gravel trails.

Not mudding this thing or climbing crazy.

But i want to be informed before i go talk to http://www.kauffmantire.com

both, but think ive decided on tires unless one of you guys speaks up otherwise.

Suspension is where im lost, additional leafs, replace leafs entirely, what specs do i need to know. Dont want it jacked up, stock is fine, level it out dial the worn sloppy handling back in.

Following up, old post. Only actually got around to some stuff in time on during December.

Complete braking system overhaul. New front calipers (piston boots gone), rear drum spring kit, flush, and pads all around.

Open Country A/T II. Doing amazing, awesome in the rain. Probably snow tested in a couple weeks.

Bilstein B6 HD shocks, and ProComp add-a-leaf kit.

New shift boot covers and FJ62 side mirrors from ebay and a Pioneer DEH-8400BH deck with HD Radio and Bluetooth for my iPhone. woo Went a lil crazy over the past two months.

Rides smooth over bumps, and looks good again. Doesn't feel awkwardly looking down when looking rearward.

Before suspension completed.

looks like you could crank the front torsion bars a little to level it out some.

take good care of that beautiful 1st gen. it's worth some good money in that condition.

Rear settled in nicely after a few weeks.

Kinda hard to crank torsion bars on a solid front axle since it doesn't have any.

Hey I was thinking that about the torsion bars too, I didn't think the straight axles had em.
