steering shaft / wheel

I've just finished converting my 94 steering from manual to power- was a bit more involved than anticipated. Works great, though. I must have inserted the steering shaft a little off, because when I'm going down the road, the 'bottom' of the weel doesn't point to me- it points out the driver window.
Not a big problem. The turn signals don't click 'off' as usual, though, when you turn a corner- one clicks off too soon, the other not at all. I understand why.

If I take the steering wheel off, will I be able to 'realign' both the wheel and turn signals so all work properly? Or to I need to take the shaft out (a whole lot of work) and attack it from that angle?

Would appreciate comments!

"was a bit more involved than anticipated"
isn't that always the way

If you "move" the wheel it will fix your straight ahead position of the wheel, but not fix the turn signal. You will have to unbolt it (shaft) from the box and "center" the column. You still need to take the wheel off to see where the turn signal cancel is at.

Almost forgot, you will still need an alignment, because your toe will still be off enough to possibly cause premature tire wear.

Just re-center the turn signal cancel cam with the wheel off, or you can pull the shaft out at the firewall and rotate the whole thing there.
