I have another question for anyone here, I have a 91 toyota pickup 22re 4cyl. 5 spd, I started it up yestrday to go somewhere and when I released the key after the engine fired up it sounded like the starter was still trying to turn the engine over. It has done this a couple times then when I killed it and tried to start it again nothing then as I kept trying it finally started. It kinda sounds like a starer but my question is this something I could put a kit in it or do I just need to get another starter

 

You could tear the starter apart and replace just the drive. Since that sounds like what's wrong with it. But a new starter drive is almost half the price of a new starter(with a new drive in it). So, unless you're really looking to save a buck...you might just want to get a new starter.
