Skid plate bolt size 95 4runner

I walked out to my truck this morning and to my suprise my skid plate was hanging. Someone jacked both the bolts that hold the front up. I know they were there and tight about a week ago because i tightened them myself. Anyways my buddy who works in toyota parts says they are discontinued. Anyone know what size the bolts are.

12mm would be the head (wrench) size for the M8-1.25 bolt.

I removed my skidplate many years ago after hittng a stump. After straightening the damage and removing rust/painting it, it's been sitting in storage for several years. I decided to remount the skid plate today, thinking I had saved the correct bolts to do so (17mm heads, fine thread, 2 measuring 3 inches long and 2 measuring almost 2 inches long). The long ones fit nicely in a crossmember hole just behind the radiator, but the skid plate doesn't seem to match up to these holes in the front and rear. Then I see this post about M8 x 1.25 bolts for the front. I'll buy some new bolts to fit it, but I'm wondering what these 17mm bolts are for. Any ideas?

Also, what length do I need for the rear M8 bolts?

Sounds like the tow hook bolts, they are 12mm dia. and probably 17mm head.

Probably an inch or so, they just need to go through the plate and into the nuts welded inside the frame. Use anti-sieze compound or grease on the threads before installing them.

Will do, thanks! I bet you are right about the tow hook bolts.
