Show Your Custom Bumpers

I noticed there are custom bumpers all over the place out there,(some really nice ones!) but hadn't had them all together. I'm looking to start mine, so lets see what you got. Pics are great any measurment if you want. Material you used. How you came up with the idea.

I have seen all those bumpers, but as all those links show they are all over the place. And I was meaning more of the custom bumper. Addicted sells those off the shelf from what I could tell. Fat mouse has a great looking bumper build and was very educative. This is more for the wish I had done, Next time I will do, Good ideas kind of thing I was going for. TTORA has some good ideas as well. I'm building a Solid winch bumper not tube, for a second generation 4Runner. Maybe that helps. Most of these build just show them but don't get into much detail.

If you want a custom bumper....

Take the measurements yourself and build a bumper to fit your needs/style out of the material needed for the application.

Some things like how specs on your rig, you use it, budget, winch?, tooobe or plate? would really help us point you in the right direction

Well my plan is to use plate, have a winch mount on the front and possibly the rear, Likely a stinger in the front and a few off road lights on the front. Kind of like Fat Mouse did, but with some stuff on top of the bumper (like the stinger and lights) As for Budget well a cheap as I can get it but everyone knows that cheap and a proper bumper (that is not just for looks) don't usually mix. It's just a 93 4Runner 4x4. Planning on a SAS... Kinda like your bumper but a few angles in it, more do dads on it.

Look at certain manufacturers (arb, tjm, Shrockworks) and figure out what size plate they use..figure out how you want it to look...

start from the ground up..

Good luck

Thanks, I thought TJM doesn't sell to American Markets, Cause Thats kinda what I'm looking for, Shrockworks doesn't have much for 2nd generation.

Good point. I was reading how a few guys used cardboard to help get the look they wanted. Some used CAD. I guess everyone has there own method. 4banginRunner what did you use? I could have swore I saw a build up of your bumper awhile back.

1/4" Thick Gas Line Iron, and 1/4" thick steel plate, has a hole in the middle for a reciever ball, or shackle, I used stock mounts and modified them since I have a body lift, tons of extra bracing underneath, I've totaled a honda civic on this bad boy.. Don't tailgate me..

Nice. Thats a very different look. It's kinda like a Smittybuilt bumper. I want to build something that can take an accident and not show that it was touched.
