Shocks?

I have a 91 pickup 4wd standard cab with stock suspesion (is yellow the color of the stock shocks?) and one of my shocks popped off of the bracket from being overflexed. Does anyone have any reccomendations for an overall good shock that is not too stiff but will still retain the height? Also, what is the stock travel for my pickup because i as thinking of getting a few more inches so it wont happen again. thanks

Your shocks have nothing to do with your ride height. Most here like Bilstiens for off-roading. I have Skyjacker Nitros, they are softer than Bilstiens and you can get them for different lifts.

I believe the stockers are black. Do a search and you'll find a ton of aftermarket shock related threads

Stock shocks are black. plain yellow could be a 'house brand' from some store or else the previous owner just painted the stock ones. yellow/blue are billstiens. I ran Rancho RS5000s on my '87 great shock but a very firm ride when I was driving without a load in back.

OME's are much softer than Bilstien but they are also around $70 each.
