shifter problems after body lift

shifter problems after body lift
So, after putting on my new 3" body lift on my 1996, 3.4 Tacoma I ran into some problems. I tried starting it and nothing, charged the battery with no luck, and tested the started and no luck. So then with the key on in Park I noticed the reverse lights were on. So In park its in reverse; reverse its in neutral, and so on down the line but wont shift all the way down to 2nd. I took the cover off and it all looked like it was sifting into the correct positions but just wouldnt go down into 2nd. I'm a little clueless at this point and would appreciate any suggestions, ideas, or thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.
