setting timing from scratch on rebuilt 22r

Just got a new long block swapped out most old parts onto new block. Now I need help on how to properly set timing from scratch.

FSM is your friend. It's free and downloadable. P.S. Is it a 22r or 22re?

Timing spec is 0 degrees @ no more then 750-800 rpm.

I have heard alot of people say that spec is 0 but on the sticker under the hood of my truck it says 5 degrees just wondering why the difference?

it's 5 degrees for a 22re with the jumper in not a 22r. It's 0 degrees on a 22r with the vacuum lines to the distributor off and blocked.

find top dead center intake, and put the distributor in, correctly, with the rotor on number one. then start and check with a timing light.
